It has stock rockers. I bought this car from the orginal owner a few weeks ago. The only thing not stock is a flowmaster. I'm thinking lifters cause the noise is louder untill the oil pressure gets up at start-up.

Yeah, that can still happen with the rockers since they'll be looser at the beginning and as the oil goes through them they pump up. LS1's use hydraulic rollers right?

yup. I'll pop the valve covers soon as I get a chance and give the rockers a wiggle. Thanks so much for the help

whats your oil pressure? what weight of oil are u using? what kind of oil filter?

40 to 60 psi. depending on rpm. 10w-30 castrol with a fram filter

get rid of the fram filter. purilator is a good filter. fram does not like our motors. made my pressure drop. u have good pressure is that after warming up?

yeah, it stays about the same from start up. even after it's been driven for an hour or so. The tick usually quitens down till it's barely noticable after a couple mins of run time, but I still know it's there To tear down or not to tear down. lol!
