94' 3.4 Block to Timing cover H20 BAD LEAK!
I just bought a 94' 3.4 Camaro about 2 months ago....All tickled pink with joy at the prospect of a new toy(mileage mainly)I start by putting Hankook Ventus 245/50/16's(stock alum. wheels) H404's tires all the way around, new stat, hoses & belt,Red top Optima etc. getting it roadready....That tickled pink is startin' to turn smeared brown
it had a small coolant leak at what looked to be running down from the stat hsg....and it was bad.The next day the temp guage started shootin' me the finger....long story short, all the Dex shot out in about 10 minutes!!!!!! Upon pulling my head out and using a very bright light, I found the leak.On the pass. side front of the block where the (I guess timing cover...aluminum)cover and the block meet, there was a blowing out spray of about 1 1/8" shooting out of that corner!!! So being Mr Do It Yourself,I start dissassembling all the goodies to get to the leak area.
Don't get me wrong but WHAT DESIGN ENGINEER puts a H20 pump on a timing cover that I assume(gulp) has coolant passage through it to the block? And better still ,Do I have to pull the balancer and drop the pan to take that cover off to change a 50 cent gasket and it looks like the K MEMBER TOO? Just used to the good ol' small block........Okiescarz (Plz. any help is very cherished at this stage)
Brownsmear sandwich I'm eating.....jeez.
