350 question!

350 question!
ok, so I am thinking about upgrading my 305 for a 350, since I am noticing there will be almost a 100 hp boost. If I could get a 305 to 300 hp I would be happy. But I am not sure I can, or how atm.
I am wondering how much time it takes to replace a new engine. Since I am in the army I don't really have the time to do this project. I am pretty sure having a mechanic do this would cost like a few grand. I am still thinking about it. But If my 305 will get to 300 hp and some 320+ torque I will be happy, since I will still be able to burn out.

Depending on which 305 you have, these may be more or less useful to you, but~

Personally, I wouldn't waste my time with a 305. Sure they haul you around ok, you can blow off most of the ricers with it, but it just ain't a 350. In my opinion, the 350 is to the 305 as the 396 is to the 350. Besides you can get more HP and torque from a 350 for less money than what you'd spend on a 305 to get (maybe) the same. There is no replacement for displacement! And again, it all depends on how much money you want to spend.

Well, I started looking at the old dodge cars when i was looking for a muscle car. Looking at over hauling them to a 440 hemi was about $10k. Now I was thinking a 350 was gonna be around 5k. Seeing that I can get a crate 350 for around 2k. I am going 350, just need to get a little more skilled in my mechanic abilitys. Since I don't know what else needs to be replaced when I drop it in.
