When a bearing spins inside of a rod, it stretches the end of the rod out, so that when you put a new bearing it fits too loose. This can allow the bearing to spin again or just allow it to knock due to excessive clearance. You need to either have a machine shop resize the rod, or put in a new one. Also check the crank journal for scoring, and for size using a mike. If the journal is scored the crank needs regrinding, if the journal shows excessive wear you may get away by using undersize bearings.

+1 He hit it right on the head. When a issue like this comes ups its normally better to play it safe and take the extra time and money to get every thing right the first time. It will save you a lot of money and time in the long run 9 out of 10 times.

Following up on what z28pete told you...
Stretched out rod end=excessive bearing play=low oil pressure.
