i disagree here...between getting all the stuff to actually MAKE the swap and the actual engine, tranny and accessories, he will spend more than he would if he bought an ls1 and modded the engine

Ah, here's the misunderstanding: I agree with your thought - buying an LS1 Camaro with mods to follow is cheaper than a swap.

However, if he's made up his mind to doing a swap whatever the cost, then swapping in something other than an LS1 could get him more power for the significant amount of $ to be invested.

As every one has said sell her or keep her as a DD and pick up a LS1 car.
