Fixing scratch - can I buff it out?
Hello all. I have a scratch that will need fixing (picture linked below). I don't really know much about paint to know my options. I was told that it could be buffed out. What do you guys think? If this is something I can do myself in my garage, can anyone provide a "how-to"? Or if anyone has any websites with step by step instructions for a scratch like this, I would appreciate it. Will need to know everything from A to Z... chemicals/products needed, hardware needed, etc.

Thanks everyone!

All I can say is that if the scratch is as deep as it looks, buffing will only make things worse. Most likely a paint job will be needed, which brings up the problem of color matching and proper application, which if not done properly will make things ugly.

What scratch?
I would try a microfiber towel and some 3M Finesse III and elbow grease.
Once the towel gets hard for the one spot, use a new place on the towel.
Apply wet, stroke in the direction of the scratch, and buff.
Repeat until gone or lesser in vision.
