I'm thinking about tuning my Engine to e-85 and was wondering if anyone else had done this.

I know one person who has converted his radical engine 60's vintage street car to E-85. He's only running a meager 13:1 c.r. though, and jetted the carb bigger as what is needed to do. And his experience supports what that article says, his fuel system did not deteriorate over the years as many myths floating around warn of. Personally, I think there may be some confusion with some people between ethanol and methanol which helps to fuel that fire. If you're after optimum performance out of your engine using E-85, you'll want to bump the c.r. on your engine as well. But once the engine is set up to run on E-85, you can't just go back to using gasoline without undoing some or all of what you altered on the engine & carb.

Thanks for the reply.
I'm only running 10.5 - 1 compression, but I bought the carb (850) from a buddy of mine who drilled out the carb to increase flow etc for his race car until he could afford his 1050.

It sounds like a lot of the stuff that I need to do for e-85 has already been done to my carb, and honestly, an 850 is more carb than I need anyway so I'm hoping all I have to do is jet it.

It looks like you've got a mean little machine under the hood there too. Have you thought about converting?

Mine is running about 10.5:1 as well. I have thought about it, but that stands further down on my list of things to do.

Wow, with that big ole tunnel ram I was sure you were running a higher compression.

I've always liked the look of a tunnel ram. About the only thing prettier would be a 671

Whacha got under that tunnel ram anyway?

Good reply

It's car's like yours I like seeing at a stop light while going to the grocery store!

I just got my "FleXFuel E-85" Ethanol" badge for the back of the car. Can't wait to see the look on the faces of people when I'm pulled up to a stop light lol!
