Problems with the fuel/computer
I just rebuilt everything in my 93 Camaro Z28. I replaced the low mileage engine with a 383 stroker engine. You can look at signature for everything in it. The problem I am having is this, it runs too rich at low rmp and too lean at high rpms. I went down to a 52mm throttle body because I thought that might help but it did not. I do have a performance chip installed for the stock engine that is a piggyback one. I was wondering if I need to get a new chip or computer or what I need to do to get this thing running good. I would appreciate any help with this. I have replaced the engine in Feb and have only put 800 miles on because of this.
These may be 2 seperate problems. The high speed lean situation may require a larger fuel line and /or bigger injectors. The low speed rich is probably computer related. You might be able to fix it all with a chip but I doubt it.
As uncle bill stated, the engine is starving at high RPM, the stock size injectors are too small for all your mods. Get rid of the piggy back chip and get the latest memcal chip from GM. This should fix the slow speed problems, assuming the O2 sensors are working OK. The larger injectors (36lb or so) should help the high end. In any event you need a custom programmed chip or convert to a newer computer (94 + ) which will have to be reprogrammed anyway.
