Maybe I'm wrong about this, but it feels like my '21 camaro 1lt v6 auto is one of the only sports cars I have come across that can't be tuned. I have search the web for performance programmers that have a mapping for this car. As far as I can tell, there isn't one. No ecu tune and no tcm tune. I'm pretty sure that I can get enough powewr out of this car doing the basic mods. Intake, exhaust, throttle body & spacer. But the a10 dct transmission is a major let down. The shift points are way off and there is a goodle deal of lag in the rev range. That is something I genuinely didn't expect from a fairly light v6 with 330 hp. My last car was a '19 hyundai veloster turbo. It had roughly 200 hp but I was easily able to mod it to around 260. Now, that car had an dct that always new when to shift. And after getting it tuned, it was formidable. Boy, would I kill to have the trasmission in my new camaro behave like my velo t. And I really miss having the slingshot power of a turbo.
Does anyone know what would go into adding a turbo? I would put a super charger on there if I could afford one. Though, I suppose adding either a supercharger or a turbo would require a tune and apparently you can't tune(ecu/tcm) this car. Man, I really hope I'm misinformed about that. Btw, I was able to put a pedal tuner on it. It certainly did give me improvements in launch. I guess I just have to hope that I can either improve the torq and hp enough that I won't be overly concerned about the lackluster transmission performance, or perhaps some brilliant kid with a laptop will crack the tcm.
If you have any suggestions for addons, mods of any kind, I would be greatful for your input.
I have the answer about tuning your (and mine) 3.6
I bought a Supercharger kit from Edelbrock. It just shipped on 10/04/21. It comes "with tune" which allows you to unlock the tuning and you will be able to set it for premium, and the tune will just download to the ECU and will either be good, or the installer forgot something. I will have exact numbers as it progresses. I doubt I will leave it in the warranted tune for all three years. I am a CAR GUY!! Nothing stays the same for long!!! One thing. I have the 6 speed Tremec manual 3130. The directions say it will hold. Only time will tell!!!
This is the $5500 Edelbrock E-Force kit. For the Camaro it is part 19950. Dont fool with your intake or exhaust. Just buy this kit. It has an Eaton TVS 1.76 liter supercharger w/ 7 lbs of boost. Its positioned on top of the engine and makes 100 hp and 100 ftlbs of torque (SAE NET). I used a rewards card and got $500 off, which paid for tax and freight. It is good, clean horspower. (RWHP 379 RWHP torque 325).
Did I mention the Edelbrock 3 year 36,000 mile POWERTRAIN warranty??? OMG. It's a good buy. My installer has already done this 3 times. I can only pray it runs smooth and the hp is available in a sophisticated way. Supercharged LT 3.6L R/S clone 🤣. It cost about $26,800 for the car and $10k for all the goodies. I love ❤ it!!! This is the best pic of "MAXINE". I bought at Carmax with 3.6k on it. Brand new as I could get and I changed the whole suspension with Bilstein B14's. They are zinc and yellow coilovers with blue lowering springs have been tested at the Nordschliffe and made in Germany. I lowered it an inch but my $20 GM end links are not adjustable. I bought BMR ELK-016 (made in USA) aluminum front adjustable end links to lock down the struts and sway bar so it all works together. I am making an appointment at Summit as soon as I get her dialed in.
