ignition
Now that i have my starter problem fixed i can get back to my ignition problem that i had to begin with... 94 z28
Ok. my engine light came on and the car ran until i cut it off... tried to restart and it would just turn over. figued out that it wasnt getting fire so i pulled one wire off(more resistance=more voltage)and turned on it for a few secondsandit started up. Idrove it 25min home. Itran fine while cranked. The next day i removed the connetions to the coil and ignitionmodule and cleaned them with electric parts cleaner. Now it will start after about 5 or 10 seconds of turning on it. I installed a new coil but that didnt help. I tried jumping the pins to blink the code out but it wouldnt.
Any ideas???

RE: ignition
Can't blink the codes on a 94 & up, you need a scanner.
Suggestion, get the car scanned by a shop with a OBDI scanner. Don't go to AutoZone for a free scan. They only have OBDII scanner and won't be able to scan your car.
I am thinking that the fuel pressure is not holding with the engine off. Try turning the key to the ON position two or three times before going to Start. Give it a few seconds in the ON position each time. This will prime the fuel system. If the car starts right away after priming, you have a pressure leak in the system.

Yep Pete you are The Man! Definately a fuel problem.I turned the key on until the pump primed upand shut off. I bumped it over enough for the pump to come back on with the key onand bumped it a few more times forit come onto help build the pressure up and it would start after about 2 seconds instead of about 10 seconds of turning.I assumed just becausei heard the pump running that it was getting pressure before. I put my fuel pressure gauge on it and it wont even budge the needle(im suprised that it will even run at all). I tested the gauge on my wifes truck to make sure it was working.
Sounds like a bad fuel pump you think??? Regulators usually fail open dont they, i pulled the vacuum line off and no fuel is leaking?
Is there anything else i should check out before i start changing the fuel pump?
Thanks Pete!
