Default Electronic(BCM) removal question

I've been having a problem with the security light coming on and it not cranking. Last night I done the resistor bypass for the key and it cranked and started right up. I done it several times and the security light never came on and it started every time. I've been reading about the solder cracking on the BCM circuit board and if you merely re-solder the terminals it will "repair" some of the weirdness that it may be doing. Mine looks to possibly have those cracks. My question is can I "safely" unplug the BCM and take it inside to re-solder those connections without screwing anything up or should I just get the car close to the house and run an extension cord out to do it?

Yeah but just because someone shows a picture of something removed doesn't mean necessarily there wasn't a "certain" way or procedure to remove it.

If you use a bypass module do you leave the BCM in the car or do you unplug and remove it? mine is a 96 3.8 and the TDR is made into the BCM. I've found the schematic, parts list and instructions on how to build the bypass module so I built one but there is a variation between 2 schematics. Has anyone done this?
