Default Computer control question with 81 z28

I bought this 81 camaro and all the smog stuff was gone. the harness was complete from what I could tell. I was wanting top eliminate the computer controlled carb to just a standard carb with standard HEI distributor. Does anyone know how this will affect if the a/c will still work and how hard it is to eliminate the electronics and swap the carb?

You should have no problems eliminating the computer... Is the car an automatic or manual car?... The computer only controlled the carb mixture, distributor advancement and 2nd/3rd lockup on an automatic car... Simply replace the distributor with a standard vacuum advance model and the same goes for the carb, I'm pretty sure that the transmission would work fine without it, but maybe someone else can chime in on that one... Then it's just a matter of merely removing the computer and harness, I would also remove the light bulb for the check engine light if it's still there, or it's going to get on your nerves... Is the computer harness in decent condition, I might take it off your hands if so, let me know... I hope this helps...

Please note that you dug up an almost 2 year old thread. The O.P.'s last activity here was in March of 2010. Don't be surprised if you don't hear back from him.
