Default System keeps draining my battery...

Hey so I recently bought a '94 Z with two 10's in the back that are powered by an IPP amp. Everything was great and worked fine for about the first month until just all of a sudden my battery started going dead. I had the battery and alternator checked and theyre both fine. The guy suggested I just check all my wires and make sure nothings touching, so I didbut everything looks fine. I noticed the light on my amp is always on but I didnt think this was enough to drain the battery. Can anyone out there give me some suggestions? Thanks

That's probably your culprit, disconnect the power wires from the amp for a while and see if the problem goes away.

The next question is, what is the remote wire of the amplifier hooked to? Maybe whatever is supposed to turn the amp on is also staying on (Typically the head unit).

I try, glad I could help

With my 2000 Cavalier I had to wire a switch inline in the remote wire because with the factory headunit I couldn't think of a tricky way to wire in the remote with the stereo to make it automatic (just had to remember to turn it off, it was subconscious for me). My 96 Lumina I could put the remote wire in with the Radio fuse in the fuse box and it worked just fine. Really any circuit in your car that is only on (12v) when the key is either in the run or accessory position should work. You should be able to do that with your 'maro, otherwise every (decent) aftermarket head unit I've ever seen has a remote wire.

This was clearly the culprit as the amp would stay on with the car off, but looks like he already got it fixed, Good to know!
