Roadmaster sub tube install
Okay, depending on your RPO codes, 97 should have two door speakers and two more where the rear seats are at. Those four should just be normal speakers and may/may not have their own personal amps, you'd have to pull one out and double check. Then there should be two more in the hatch that are subs and for sure have their own personal amps.
I don't remember what year they switched it, but for instance, my 93 Z had the option of 5 speakers or 3, in my case, only 3. Two in the doors and one sub in the back on the drivers side. Where else the 5 speaker option had all that, plus two near the rear seats.
As mentioned before, you need a RCA converter thingamajig. Walmart sells them, as do most audio stores. There is, however an alternative. You can buy an aftermarket head unit, either toss all the old speakers and splice in aftermarket ones (option A) or still buy the aftermarket head unit and ditch the amps and solder the speaker wire straight to the original speakers (option B). I meant to do a write up on how I did it (option A), but never found the time.
It sounds more complicated than it actually is.

Thats backwards from my car. I dont know why but my subs are in the rear seat and the hatch is regular speakers
Huh. I suppose may be GM switched it when they added the passenger side hatch to the mix. You'd have to talk to someone with the same year and RPO codes and see if theirs is the same. I just don't see any sense in putting subs next to a passengers ear.
