Default radio light acting up

The camaro im working on restoring is an 83 and the radio is acting funny. My uncle had it sitting in his garage and i finally bugged him enough to get it out and restore it. The radio works it makes noise and picks up stations but the display is weird. None of the lights work but if you push in the volume **** it blinks a number and the number changes. My uncle said it was a bulb behind the display but he doesnt know how to get to it. Any help or suggestions? Thanks

My best guess would be that's it been sitting so long that it's probably cooroded on the inside and therefore just not going to work right. If I remember right, that's got a digital display? Correct me if I'm wrong. I would say to go to a salvage yard and pick up a newer radio for a gm, you might be able to find one that fits the factory plug. And they are usually fairly cheap. Any 1.5 DIN GM will fit in there, you just might have to transfer the brackets on the side.
