my personal oppinion on subs would be crossfire. i had two 15"s in my jeep and you could hear them from a block away. An audio shop near my house has won several comititons useing crossfire. But whichever kind of subs you get you need to get the same brand of amp, it runs better with the same product becouse that how that company test there subs/amps. So you cant go wrong with crossfire, they broke my back windshield. Its rediculously LOUD. They are more expensive tho, you have to pay for the bang. That set up was 2 crossfire bmf's w/sony explode 1200wt. amp. w/ crossfire wires. Past subs i have no idea, ive never bought aftermarket tweeters/panel speakers.

how loud are you wanting it? one thing to remember, the louder it is, the crappier the outside of the car will sound, your trunk is gonna rattle horribly. and what car are you puttin it in?

reason i ask was cuz you said trunk, and im figuring your not talking bout the yenko, so it's prolly a hatch which is a different sound.

In that case i would just keep it simpler, you can get any brand name twelve, alpine, audiobahn, kicker, JL, etc. and a 1000 watt amp and you'll be set. i would get a rockford fosgate punch 900, an at least 250 rms sub and you'll be satisfied.

as for price, at a store probably close to $400, or you could do some looking and maybe get the whole setup for 250 to 300. in my s-10 i have two 10 in. Alpine E's with a 600 watt amp and it does great, has a great sound with minimal rattles.

Here's a thought. I'm sure they would be at least a little loud. You could go with 2 (or more) Alpine Type R's (12's or 10's, I would go with 10's in my car though). Then just set them up on a good amp. I just like these subs from what I've read, and thats what I want for my car. I think you can get them for around $170 or less each.. If you plan on going with these, I could probably find you a cheap place to get them on the net and a good amp for them.

type R's are a good sub. but ten's won't put out enough to prolly suit him in the trunk of a car. unless he gets three of them. and you can get a set of two on ebay for like 200
