annoying alternator whine

Default annoying alternator whine

so my amp puts out the dredded alternator whine and yesterday i was trying to fix it. i thought i did. turned out to be a bad ground on the amp. fixed it. fired up the car and it was gone. an hour later when i went to work it came back. now i cant figure out whats causing this. can anyone help? oh yeah its an 87 z28 and a vr3 200w amp

it is something with your groundim guessing you have a pioneer deck? happens to alot of them make sure you ground all your grounds to unpainted parts and check your harness for a rip in the ground cable or get a ground loop isolator i see them for like 20ish

no its a cheap panosonic deck. i had a feeling it would be the ground. the only wierd thing is that i fixed it and within an hour it came back

well that solves it. ended up being a bad amp. so now instead of a 200w vr3 amp i have a 600w boss amp.

i think you couldve solved the prob with the old amp. i mean i have some amps that make the noise and some that dont. ive solved the problem before by running a 12awgwirefrom the amp direct to the deck. and ive solved it by running the power wires and RCA cables on opposite sides of the car.
