Default 83 z28 stereo

I'm thinking about replacing the component speakers in my z28 but i want my car to look pretty much stock. Are there replacement speakers like Xplod's that would be good for my car? Also should i attempt this on my own?

Sony makes really crappy speakers, I'd personally go with some Kicker speakers, or perhaps some Pioneer, Clarion, etc.you can catch a pair of them for around $49 on crutchfield.com, orEbay would probably be cheaperand they will be 100x better than any XPlods you can buy...I'd stay away from sony speakers/subs/amps, they have a bad reputation...

yeah i was just asking in general if the crappy distorted speakers could be replaced without modifications to the car. if i was going to choose a speaker i would go with kicker or pioneer since my deck is pioneer and i've heard lots of good things about Kicker

In MY opinion Kenwood and certain pioneer speakers are very clear and have amazing sound/source ratios. I buy all my stuff through http://www.millionbuy.com Crutchfield.com can give you adapters and harnesses if needed. I would go ahead and say try installing them yourself. They are fairly easy to do. DO NOT brake things. That would be ALL bad. You MIGHT have to drill new holes and that's about it. It should fit under the stock utilities.

yeah replacing the factory speakers is easy. the front speakers are 4x6 i think and the rears are 6x9. To to get to the front speakers all you have to do is take the dash pad off. there are 4 philips screws in the defrost vent, and 6 or so under the dash. remove all screws and take the dash out. next, just rmove the speakers, each should have 4 screws and then disconnect the wiring.
i would personally go with infinity or pioneer speakers.
