whats the deal with the rust

I agree! they look awful and normal or not the amount of "whatever" it is amount is EXTREME by any standard I am starting to lose sleep over my car once again!!The noise when i apply the brakes that i had only heard a couple of times is now happening regularly.
Here we go again looking for another place to take it!I dont get it its like every mechanic that I have taken it to seems to know about as much as I do about car repair!!Thankfully you all seem to know EVERYTHING about these cars

nope, not as bad in dry weather but still does it. if it is dust you should see it on the rim as well.

The new rotors are probably made of cheaper metal than the original ones.
Paint em and be done so you can get a good night's sleep!

lol....mine were the same way. I just shot them with black paint when I was painting my calipers.

Next time buy the coated rotors, I bought mine from Bosch.
