Default 95' fiberglass Hood supports

Here's the story. I was walking out to my car after work and one of my coworkers backed into the front of my car with his Wrangler. it broke the headlight of the driver side dented and scratched the **** out of my bumper and hood. Insurance is covering the damages but I was thinking of getting a custom fiberglass hood instead of getting the dents beat out of my factory one and the body shop i'm taking it too. The owner was telling me that if I leave the factory hood supports in and just bolt on a fiberglass hood that the hood would break if I tried to shut it since its brittle and lighter than the metal hood from the factory. Does anybody know if this is true about fiberglass hood and if so. Where I can get hood supports that wouldn't do this. I cant be the first one do this right?? Any help is appreciated please and thank you.

If you get a well made hood that is reinforced and finished off on the back side, then you can use the stock hood supports without any problems. Been there, done that on my old 94. But if you get a cheap hood that is essentially a lift off hood with hinges, then no.
