for 2 months now ive had a mysterious off and on roaring noise in my rear end on acceleration with a warmed up motor. ive concluded that this is not rear end related, sounds more like a muffler. but ive got a fully stock 3.8 with y87 fully stock duals. when i look at the two pipes from straight behind, the right side pipe hangs diagonally a little bit. you cant notice it looking from above but it is hanging down a bit on the right side while the left is fine. but i need to know if that is what may be causing my roaring noise if its not my rear end because i have been having a time diagnosing this since it happened. so yeah please help me out. thanks!

 

Its more than likely your rearend. They are prone for wearing. I have allready replace mine.

 

ohh....like which specific parts were bad in your rear end do you remember?

 

how do you know if it is a y87 or not?

 

sorry for taking too long to reply, but they have dual exhaust, P235/55R16 tires, and an LSD.

 

Y87 is the RPO code that can be found on the end of the door on a white sticker...

Yeah... Y87 is an RPO code that should be on the door sticker. If it isn't, it doesn't have the Y87 package.
