Default Will This Work?

I have a 91 RS with a 3.1L MFI and i want to get rid of the restrictive stock airbox. If i take a K&N cone filter and put it in place of the airbox will i throw a code? And what other problems might occur

Nah, you won't throw any codes at all, more airflow=more HP and better gas mileage .

Your just basicly taking your filter out of the canister. Go on ebay and find one for $40 +/- shipped with their k&n style filter and some chrome tubes
