whenever i lock my car and let security system come on(security works) and go to get in next day, i have to put key in door, unlock, and have key in ignition, in ON position within 5seconds of turning key in door, or else alarm goes off, and my security light is always blinking, now ive never had a prob starting or a prob with alarm going off randomly, but it's kinda annying, and would like to fix.

i do have a new ignition switch and key w/o a chip, BUT it did it before i got new ignition switch too, and previous owner said it's done it since the day he bought it new.... is it s'pose to be like that or is my security module just bad?

the chevy dealers around here all say they've never seen/heard of a problem like this(they cut key with apropriate chip and still did it, i didnt buy key though).

any thoughts be great, it isnt troublesome at all... just annoying when hands are full.

 

My old 96 camaro did the same thing.I've heard of it alot.I think it's normal but I'm not sure.
