3800 II engine models are nearly bulletproof. I've rarely heard of anyone having major internal engine failure, in Camaros or anything else. Regardless, the problems you have are all minor and can be fixed, so don't give up on it now. The rough idle and hesitation under light load may be faulty ignition components. You have a few things in the ignition system that may be bad: spark plugs, plug wires (very likely, inspect them for excessive damage. Even a clean 'looking' wire can be bad), ignition coil packs, and ignition control module. The ICM receives input from various sensors around the vehicle, and the MAF is one of them.

As far as your MAF situation, if you trust your mechanic, have him do the job. Call the local parts stores and see if you can get the sensor for cheaper, too.

hold onnnnnnnnnn you said they told there was a code for the crank position sensor..... replace it. That would cause everything your stating is going on. can act fine at times and die on you at others... the voltage gauge will drop like that when the idle starts getting real low and as far as the tensioner, it *could* be part of that as well but do the Crank sensor first.

I was hoping somebody would say that since that was the cheaper one!!! Is that something thats pretty easy to do or should I just buy the part and let someone else put it in. Do you know somewhere I can get some directions.
