So I just picked up a 2000 Camaro V6/ 5 speed last Tuesday. So far it has a been a blast but the other night this wierd smell started coming from under the hood, it smells like burning rubber. No clue what it could be, I checked the belt, all the rubber hoses, wires, nothing looks burnt and I can't see any smoke, the smell only comes about when I'm pulling into my driveway or before shutoff. Noting sounds funny, leaksand there are noSES lights on. It's coming somewhere from the drivers side, thats were th smell is strongest. Sure is driving me crazy any ideas?

Do you have any high watt speakers or amp or other aftermarket equipment? Check with who you just got it from whether they just replaced a rubber hose or something new! I see you got a 5sp. v6 do you know how many rpms you turn going 55mph? I got the same car and i need to know. Thanx

Hot or burning oil shares similar properties of burning rubber. It's possible you have a miniscule oil leak and the oil is finding it's way to a hot pipe or manifold. Place the vehicle on a clean surface after it's been run and park it. Check for drips after a given period of time.

Sorry I took so long to reply but I was away from home and my computer over the holiday. Anyways I personally think it mite have just been the clutch? Seeing that it has only happned like once or twice in 700 miles I have had it so far. But I'm still open to replies. Thanks.
