Default valves or pistons?

I have a 3.4 V6. I have no compression in the #2 cylinder (middle on driver side) We adjusted the rocker arms, but still no compression. do you think it could be the valves or the pistons and rings?

At this point it really does not matter. Wether rings or valves, the heads still have to come off in order to fix the problem.

If you have a compression tester handy, apply it to the number two cylinder. Before you connect the tester, roll the engine over so that #2 is on BDC. A few squirts of motor oil into the hole should temporarily seal the piston on it's compression stroke. Connect the tester and see if this is true. If there is still no change, one can assume it may be a faulty valve and/or valvetrain components. If there is a compression spike, gear your attention more towards a piston ring.
