yea. i would like to fix my v-6 but they just dont put out enough power for me and they dont make any aftermarket parts. and i cant really trade my car. so im kinda in a stick situation. and im kinda looking forward to a chalange. and since im only 17 i cant really work enough to get a job to pay for a new car but i need something faster this v-6 really just isnt enough. i thought about going to a rice burner and turboing the **** out of it but i dont want to be a ***.

 

and you think the 305 is fast? my subaru has a turbo. does that make me a ***?

well the 305 will be faster than the v-6 and no because a subaru is not a rice burner. i actualy would like to have a subaru to do rally racing with.

 

can it keep up with the V8's even with all the mods?

 

what im trying to say here is if you have a V6 camaro and you put a **** load of mods on it. would it be able to keep up with a V8 camaro? even if that V8 is modded. i do know you can make a V6 just as powerful as the V8, and the gas millage is good to for the 6.
a modded V6 camaro does seem benificial.

 

no. there is a problem with this statement.... yes, it is technically possible to make the 6 as powerful as the 8. but fuel economy is directly related to the effeciency of making the power that is used in driving. make lower power, use less fuel right? make more power, use more fuel?

well... make more power w/ a less efficient motor and you use even more. the v8 makes its power more efficiently than the v6. its one of the reasons I used to get 26-29mpg in my ta going 90mph on the highway. my old elantra wouldnt get that at that speed. not even close... but it would get 35mpg going 55

so you cannot use both the "its possible to make..." argument in conjunction with the "good gas mileage" argument. if u were to mod the crap out of ur v6 to get 350bhp NA you would have pretty **** poor mpg

my plan was to buy a v6 camaro, mode exterior/interior and then look for an ls2 engine, but wow after reading this thread im really discouraged

even if i were to break even with say...the price of a z28 it would be worth it because the ls2 would be newer and stronger than the ls1 but the way you guys make it seem is that it is INCREDIBLY difficult, i have a friend who has done a ton of engine swaps, he hasnt made it seem overly difficult but we never got too much into detail about it, is there any reason in particular why this specific swap is harder than any other?

Im workin on the swap right now. ok so my buddys dad is a tool and die maker for GM and his friend builds motors for hendriks supposidly. (sp?) and they are going to do everything. lol. i have a 97 rs with a 3.8 and dont really want to buy a Z just to put the LS1 i have in it. (it is completely complete)but i might as well buy a donor car for all the **** ill need. what exactly did you have to swap?
