Don't shank me for asking here but I'm new to the Camaro scene... Just picked up a '95 with 3.4 and 5 speed... Could a fella "easily" swap the 3.4 for a 3.8? Or would ya run into issues there too?

you for realz? Its so easy just swap the pcm that changes the 3.4 to a 3.8 via the timing and air to fuel mix but you bumped a v6 to v8 thread soooooooo.....

You have no idea what you are talking about. The block and motor mounts are different, you need the K member from the 3800. Your also going to need the entire OBD2 computer system because of the different firing order. Switching a 3.4 to a 3800 is just as much work as switching to a V8.

how would changing a pcm make a 3.4L engine miraculously become a 3.8L engine??? i guess the extra 24 CI comes from hopes and dreams, or sh*ts and giggles

You've heard of variable timing camshafts right?
This must be reefering to variable stroke control.
Oh, the wonders of computer controlled engines!

Now why did thoughts of my wife pop into my head?

Anyway, to the poster asking about the 3.4 to 3.8 you need to step back and not look at it so much as technical possibility but is there any benefit to doing it given the time and expense. If you really, sincerely and honestly can't do the job yourself then the answer is a resounding no.

If you can do it ALL yourself and have access to decent used engines (an oxymoron most of the time) and necessary components, AND, your present ride is in GREAT shape then it may well be worth it

Without looking up car sales, I can't imagine there would be such a great spread in cost between buying a complete 95 Camaro with a 3.4, and a 96 with a 3.8. To do the swap, you're going to have way more money and labor invested than your current car is worth, and definitely more than what you could buy a 96-up for.

Not sure why I did not add this before. This is a swap done, 3800 to 5.3 and done correctly so just about everything works.
