It can be done for the price of 2 cars. A good V6 Body and a good V8 drive train. The number 2500 will depend on what you want and what you already have. Let say you have a great V6 you find a decent low mile wrecked V8 for $1500. If you reseal the motor (gaskets and seals) and your replace all the hose, mounts, plugs, wires. You would be a little under 2500 and about 100 hours worth of work. There is still the risk that this is a used motor and tranny. (all the works and the car is not worth much more then what you paid for the parts)

If already have the wreched V8 car and you need the V6 body that is a much better situation. Nice bodies can be bought for as little at $500.

Buying a V6 body and wrecked V8 makes no sense. If the V8 cars where expensive maybe, but they are not. You can buy a running V8 for $1800 that just needs minor repairs or you can by a V8 car with a blown headgasket for $1200 and be driving with less then 15 hours worth of work. (you turn a $1200 car into a $2500-$3000 for about $400 + labor)

The swap really does not make sense is pulling the motor out of a good running V6 to swap in a V8. Different people have different expectation after a swap. Some people want a car that will get them from point A to point B fast and some of us was everything to work as the factory intends and want another 100,000 miles on the car after the project is done.
