As I suggested a while ago, did you try jumping/hot-wiring the starter, at the solenoid yet? That will to rule out (or in) any wiring issues, and will let you know for certain whether it's a starter problem or not. Then you can check for voltage at the small start wire on the solenoid, when the key is in the "start" position. And your battery reading 11.8 volts after it sits is perfectly normal.
He just said we may have to have it towed and let the pros fix it.

He got close enough to the starter to get it part way off. Could have clipped one of these remote starter switches on. Is there enough room to reach with a test meter probe to check the start wire?

Good move, a pro with a test light should not take more then a half an hour to atleast know what system is causing the issue. I have never had any luck talking people thru electrical issues. I have spent hours typing only to find out it was something I could have figured out in ten minutes if I was there.

I personally think its a problem with either the neutral start switch or the relay. If it's not clicking your either having a problem with that switch or the starter relay.

The car is going to take a back seat for a bit. Our 2 year old 10 pound
min pin/dachshund was killed lastnight and has to take some priority over the car. Its the first time my kids have suffered a pet loss.

sorry to hear of your loss. have you checked all your fuses? a few things come to mind. vats, nutural switch, ignition switch, fuseable link. you can test the small wire going to the starter when the key is turned to the start position. if not getting juice to it then the problem is farther up stream. if no juice then go to the ignition switch, its under the dash on the steering colum. test to see if your getting power out of the switch when turned to start.

First of all, your car is freaking awesome!! Yes we've checked all fuses. They look good. How do you check those bigger square type fuses under the hood? Also do you need to take those screws out under the steering wheel to get to what needs to be tested?
