I am looking at buying a new hood for my 02 camaro because the old one had a tree limb drop on it and it is going to be 500 to fix it. (that is just dent removal and maybe some paint) So i was looking at the Ultra Z hood and was wondering it looks like it might take on water while its raining. Can you get it without a functional scoop? I love the way it looks. Also if any of you have bought one and have had it put on i would like to know how much of a pain it was and where you got it from. Thanks

Check with the manufacturer. Usually these ram air hoods have a rain baffle to collect and get rid of rain water into the intake, etc. On the ram air hood we put on ours, we removed this to get a smoother, faster intake. (Never had any problems but then we don't drive in the rain either. Mostly, folks who have intake lock problems with rain and road water spray have cold air induction that is located down low, like in the grill. Regardless, you should have no problems.

I have the same hood on my car. Check out my pics in my album on here. Mine costed me $570 shipped from Octane Motorsports. I had it installed and painted for $500. The scoop is functional, it isn't boarded up shut at all, it has a wire mesh type grille running through it. Don't worry about it taking on water, unless you plan on driving through a lake, in which case, the hood is the least of your issues.
