I am a machinist and unless you have a mill, angle vice, mandrel tubing bender , and a damn good welder, (not to mention hours and hours of labor time and plenty of machnie shop/steel fab exprience) this job is gonna be near impossible for a D.I.Y. to pull off. I hate to sound so negative but I have over 15 years exprience and still wouldnt attempt it. It's just not worth the work and cash.

If you have access to a machine shop why not just build a killer 3.4? Putting a turbo on a none fresh motor does not make any sense. Your cheapest way to make power is Nos. You could have a 50 or 75 shot with a dry sniper system (about $500). Your going to run into the same problems with the Nos as you are with the Turbo. Your going to blow out the head gaskets and your going to have problem with exhaust valve sizing and exhaust back pressure.
There is no way anyone is going to sit down and type all the info you would need for a turbo. You should spend 100's hours researching it. To go from a person that does not know what a waste gate is to a person that can custom built a turbo system is pretty big undertaking. Once you are done that research I think you will conclude if you want to go fast buying a broken V8 and fixing it is the cheapest way to go. I saw a 96 Lt1 with high miles and a blown headgasket for $900. That would be 300 dependable HP less then 2K away with a transmission that rear that was designed to handle it.
