I paid about 8k for my 1999 V6 camaro. I have put about 15k miles on it. I'm really into modifying and adding performance to the engine, and will eventually swap in an LS1 or something.

My question is, would it be economical to have the Chevy dealership swap in a manual transmission for me? The mechanic priced everything and said with the new GM 6-speed tranny and installation, it would run me about 2k - 3k bucks.

Economical, or should I just be stuck with my automatic?

 

Why do you want a manual right now? Everyone is going to tell you that it would be more "economical" to sell your car and buy the LS1 Camaro. Especially since you aren't doing any of the work yourself...

 

keep your auto v6 as your daily driver and save up and buy a manual ls1 maro. its gonna be way cheaper to do that
