transmission grinding

RE: transmission grinding
Could have been low fluid level in the clutch hydraulics. As the clutch wears more fluid rests in the slave cylinder to take up the wear. When you pressed on the clutch pedal there may not have been enough fliud to fully release the clutch. Being that the forward gears are synchronized, the synchros were strong enough to engage the gears without grinding even though the clutch was dragging slightly; however, reverse is not synchronized and the gears would grind. Just a thaught.
