Default grinding at 55+ mph

morning

tried to search this topic but had no luck. i recently had my 2 u joints and tranny mount replaced. Now i get a griding at around 55+ mph. I want to have a little more idea of what it could be before i go back up to the shop.

thanks

can you give a general location grinding is coming from. i would look at the new u joints first. could have messed up one of the caps/needle bearings when installed.

its hard to tell, it hear the sound more than feeling it. its not super loud but its there. I feel some vibrations in driver seat. feels like it comes from the rear more. It has to be u joints. It hasnt done thins until this install. All the fluids in the diff are fresh and full

z28s have a one piece drive shaft. if the guy did it wrong he should fix it for nothing. sometimes if you dont put the drive shaft back together the same it will vibrate. the noise is not normal for that though

Its a pinion bearing. Installing new u joints caused it to act up. Possibly too much torque. Rear part of shaft had a lot of play

or the mechanic got a little to carried away on the test drive. one of the main reasons i do almost all the work on mine. most times it is cheaper to replace the whole rearend if you can find a good used one.
