Off the top of my head - at minimum, you'll need the new pedals, associated hydraulics (clutch master cylinder) as well as a floorpan cut for the manual shifter (the automatics don't have that hole), along with a donor transmission and mount. Plus, depending on the year, you might need a new ECM (or at least reprogram the ECM for a manual trans).

Both are 96. The can was an automatic but didn't come with trans. I'll probably put a build thread up soon. Not going to do much to it for now. Just a decent driver.

Being the same year will make it easier. Do some research on the VATs system. This is the only area that that is going to give you problems. Your current computer will be looking for the automatic trans. You can not just switch computers.

Yes you could reprogram the computer but the 96 computer has issues. Your best bet is to get a 97 and reprogram that. Your Vats system and your PCM are tied to your vin number. You can not just switch the PCM because the system will assume it an attemp to trick the VAT and it will shut the PCM Down if the system do not match.

The easies way to fix the issue is to go to
http://www.pcmforless.com/

They will supply you with a 97 PCM setup anyway you want it and ready to go with your VATs. They can also tune it if you have any mods. They will not take your 96 PCM as a core tho.

BTW: The software you would need to reprogram your own PCM cost more then buying the new system from the above vendor. They also sell the Software. If you happen to find a cheaper solution Please post it here. I have had no luck finding "demo" version of the software on any of the torrent sights. If anyone does find one please PM me

Just to be stupid - but if he has the entire donor car, can't he just swap both the BCM/PCM from the donor?
