Default Tranny problems

1995 v6 3.4 with 80,000 5spd

My clutch is going I believe. My engine races to accel. I have noticed a loss of power. But it seems like the clutch isnt going all the way in. Not to mention its not quite as heavy as it normaly is. Its probably around 500rpms higher then it should be when accelerating.

I think its the clutch what do you think?

How hard is it to change out the clutch?

Thanks

Changing the clutch is not a big deal, but it is not a job for someone that has never seen it done before. The drive shaft, transmission and pressure plate have to be removed. The flywheel has to be inspected for wear and either resurfaced or replaced. The pressure plate, clutch disk, and release bearing are usually replaced with new ones. If removed, the flywheel needs to be properly installed, clutch disk and pressure plate are installed using an alignment tool to center the clutch disk with pilot bearing in the crank shaft. Put the release bearing back in place, put transmission & drive shaft back. Get a service manual & read it carefully.
