while its off port and polish the hell outta the intake manifold... its a small help but every little bit counts right. borrow a dye grinder and get to work. only take 3-5 hours and you will notice a little difference

oh yea, and you will have to use your lower camaro intake manifold so thats why i suggest doing this while it is off of the motor. also clean the MAF sensor and the intake temp sensor... just to be sure its a job WELL done and not just another job in the bag. the more detail you put into it the more you get out of it. i have been rebuilding a 3.8 for over a year now and i try to do every little thing i can to help the motor out, no matter how small or simple it'll be worth it in the long run

I got a engine from a 05 buick. i put swapped most of the parts out already. i have a couple ?'s. First of all, my dad says the rear main seal needs to be replaced but when i asked how it looked he said good. is my dad right? also i need new flywheel bolts, i bent some and broke one, where can i buy them? at a gm dealer its like $4.50 a piece and i think thats way to much. its a stick btw. one more thing for now, what are the best spark plugs for the 3800? i heard ac delco or NGK. is one better than the other? and what kind are the best? (Iridium or Platinum or ?)

sorry for all the questions at once.

yep you got it apart change that rear seal. change your soft plugs too. pretty sure arp makes flywheel bolts. how the heck did you bend them. there hard steel bolts. give summit a call and see what they got. i vote for ngk iridium.

I am not sure about the automatic but the sticks are strech to yield bolts on the flywheel. They have to be replaced everytime. They should only be replaced with strech to yield bolts.

i bent them but putting like 4 in and a prybar to hold it from turning when taking off the balancer bolt. i bought some bolts that are grade 8 and looked like the old blots from o'reily. will they work? i dont feel like spending $35 for bolts.

i don't have the time or money to order bolts from Gm or some where like arp. would grade 8 bolts from the hard ware store break? my car if going to pretty close to stock so not a lot of power. I've seen all 8 bolts grade 8 bolts break on a sc 3800 with like 550 whp.

the problem is the bolts will work lose and or stretch and lose the torque setting. im sure they will work but may come lose at a time of its choosing.

I got the engine bolted up with the engine a couple days ago. Ive put all the parts on other than the spark plugs and radior and stuff like that. My question is before you start a car with the engine thats just been bolted up and you push the clutch down should it stay on the floor? will there be pressure after I start it the first time? Im kinds worried that i did something wrongs with the clutch and have to take it all apart again. It took prob. 20 hours to get this far!
