Follow the top radiator hose. Then where it enters the block, there is the housing. It comes off with two bolts. Scrape the old gasket, take the old one out, put the new one in, put the new gasket in, torque the bolts, reattatch the hose and refill the system. There are two gaskets, the paper one and then there is an RTV like substance. If you can get the paper one, that is better.

The thermostat, depending on temp range, will keep the engine cooler. If the engine gets too hot then there is a loss of power. And the "o ring"is normal.

Is putting a new thermostat into my car worth doing... i was thinking about putting a new 160 degree thermostat into my 2.8 then chipping it. I found them on autopartswarehouse.com and they have them for my car so i wanted to know if it would have a noticable boost of power?
