I have almost 200k on my 98 camaro and have only put in mobil 1. Since it the pan gasket leaks I put in 10w40 and that pretty much slows the leak to almost nothing.

Walmart is only $21 bucks,, hes right.. But I also use the FRAM 3980 filters (which are for a 4.3) cuz they hold more oil.. SO i had to buy an extra quart. So its about $28 bucks. I also noticed it makes my engine run about 6-7 degrees cooler.

So, your running one of the best oils made, and ruining it with one of the worst filters made?

I use the STP filter, which is the same as an AC Delco Ultraguard, but costs just a tad less.
Everything you wanted to know about oil filters but were afraid to ask: http://people.msoe.edu/~yoderw/oilfilterstudy/oilfilters.html

if the car leaks or burns oil though, i strongly recommend sticking with conventional. the synthetic has smaller molecules, which in turn leads to larger leaks and faster burn off. i run mobile clean in my dd, which has 184k miles. ive tried castrol in it but it burns off too fast, and the engine is a bit noisy with it (as is my bike).
