do you want better handling or better ride quality?

(P.S. I'm kinda starting to look into this stuff too, so I hope you don't mind if I piggy-back this thread a little bit lol)

I have sprint lowering springs, its 1.75 drop all the way around the ride quality is obviously a little rougher but the cornering is considerably better, i love them, no new pics posted yet they just went on 2 days ago

Whats the best suspension setup to get the best turning performance. I'm used to driving cobalts and saturns and I want something a little tighter.

If your car is making noise you should figure out what that is before you do any upgrade. I am a big fan of upgrading to what GM thought was best but I can not afford the Koni shocks right now 32MM hollow sway bar front, 29mm sway bar rear, close ratio LS1 rack and add a set of KYB adjustable shock with adjustable spring mount (ride height adjustment)would be nice replacment for the koni. Atlease until I can find a set I can afford.

Add in a LS1 brake upgrade and that is the plan for my summer project.

Just a thought - but if the 'vert in your sig is the car you're modding, then perhaps adding some subframe braces (and a shock-tower brace) would help more. I just added them to mine, and they reduced squeaks significantly - and presumably would let you do better with any planned suspension mod.

im not getting any squeaks form the top or anything but it is a 95 and the entire car is original even the brakes and the sound im getting is the suspension bottoming out when i hit rr tracks or potholes and sht like that i also have 18 inch rims for it and with the tires there smaller than the stocks so thats why i want the drop to fill the wheel wells a little better

Sounds like something's definitely broken/loose then - which is odd, as I'd expect you'd have a low-mile car if you're still on the original brakes (which I'd probably have replaced just due to age regardless).

I've got 134k on mine living in NY salt, and I've got no thunks on hitting the potholes around here. I used to have a thunk on one-wheel bumps, which I traced to a loose panhard rod bolt. If it's truly the suspension bottoming out, then there's a bad shock/spring somewhere.

As for running a larger wheel, a lowering spring would do ok to accomodate the larger diameter - though replacing the springs AND shocks together is best, as the original shocks have their wear pattern in place at the normal ride height.

And after you figure out what's the problem, I'd still recommend subframe braces, as having a firmer platform will allow softer spring/shock settings at the corners. (it also overcomes the structural deficit 'verts have to the coupes)
