can a 1995 3.4 stock camaro..... beat a 1985 305 v8 camaro stock and they both autos?? thanks

it would be pretty close, the 305 will win because it has more torque

 

you really think so the 305 was pretty weak and are 3.4s are pretty strong for what they are

305 was a economy engine
about the same horses
but more torque due to the engine
it would barely pull ahead
with a few mods
the 3.4 would win

 

3.4 puts out 160 HP @ 4,600 rpm; 200 ft lb @ 3,600 rpm

there were a few different 305s,depending on the year

 

A 305 would eat the 3.4 for lunch, what are you guys talking about.

A 3.8 would be a closer match up.

An '85 305 TPI is 215 hp and 295 ft-lbs.

 

you are crazy the 305 was a pos engine all around

 

Depending on year the TBI or TPI has the 3.4 beat or equal on horses and produces around 65-105 more torque. Thats a big difference no matter how you look at it. If both cars are in fair condition my money would be with the 305.
