all this sideways talk, how many V6 camaros came stock with a posi rear end...If I am correct it was only the RS camaro that did..I changed my rearend putting in a 10 bolt posifrom a 95 Z28..I will be in the market for a new clutch soon, and the other day I ripped a 1st gear at least 25' long.. Sideways only happens from a Posi rearend, a single track rear end will only leave one tire mark.

not that common...

I could spin my 10" rears w/ new tires...

and the stockers traction was actually a valid issue...and my car was an auto...

How does making it a 5spd make it easier to burn out? It doesn't, you must be dumping the clutch, where likewise auto's would brake stall it to burn up real nice...

Here's my vid of my old 3.8 Y87 Auto maro...

(and No, I am not the hippy with the long hair haha)

the manuals jus got better gear ratio'ing for burnout..ik i tried power breaking my friends 3.4 auto(ik, weaker engine) and it jus kept stalling itself, my dad's old 2.8 even throws sideways(manual). i dont even have to drop my clutch to spin mine, but i do have to drop it to make her go sidewayz. that was with 265 kumho ECSTA MX's on her.

and idk bout anyone else here, but minedid NOT have the y87 code, but both tires would spin as soon as it started. idk if it had a posi put in it.. but based on who owned it before me, i'd have to say no.. lol.

boy i miss going sidewayz, cant do taht with the saturn lol, but i can still sure roast em all the way thru 1st.

If all you want to do is smoke your tires, rather then bolt on expensive parts, just buy cheap tires and over inflate them.

When I had tires with a 55 aspect ratio I was able to smoke them from a dead stop just by stomping the gas if the ASR was off. I've now got tires with an aspect ratio of 60 andthey're hard to break loose even power braking to 2500 rpm.

I dont know why people hear seem to be having a hard time. I have 245/50s on my 3800 which are the base tires for the Z28. I have no problem spinning them. If I luanch it from a race too hard I will fish tail all the way threw 1st & part of 2nd before it catches traction. If I were to just step on it from a stand still (no luanch) they will let out a loud scretch and lay a nice long black line down.

I dont have any videos of my luanch but I do have one of my burn out: http://youtube.com/watch?v=hoq1MhmOPGk
That was while I was completly stock with wider tires than the regular V6 and on dry pavment with Michilen XGT tires, there is no reason why a 200 HP car should be able to spin the tires.

About the golf, he just out drove you. You said he was near stock. Well stock they accully weight more than the 3.8 Camaros. 20lbs more to be exsact. And the highest model Golf (the GTi) has the same amount of HP as the 3800 & the 3800 has almost 20 more trq. Ontop of that the gold is FWD compared to the camaro RWD. It would be a close race but the camaro should win. He just out drove you, If you race him again make sure you go from a dig. You have RWD & more tourq and you should get a jump on him in the luanch. And you will keep your lead becuase he doesnt have any more HP than you & he doesnt weight any less.

exactly like ninty said, you have to dump it if you want it to go sideways.mine is the y87 option apparently from reading the sticky they have. speaking of the golf, i've never raced one of them, but i totally smoked a scion tc the other day coming home from work at a stop light. haha, i know, they're wimpy but still it was very gratifying lol. i wasn't even coming close to redlining either, just took it up to like 4,000. gave him the good old "blink" of the flashers
