Default Spark plug wire routing ?

I have read several threads on here where someone mentions making sure the spark plug wires are routed the correct way. May seem like a dumb question but what is the correct routing of the wires. I bought this car used with a blown engine and the only reference I have is the wire routing on the old engine. Cylinders 1, 3, 5 were routed underneath the manifold and up the back of the engine to the coils and cylinders 2, 4, 6 were routed under the manifold out the front of the engine and back over the plenium to the coils. Is this the correct way?

I installed another engine with new plugs and wires and am having a misfire issue but the EGR valve was leaking real bad. I capped the intake hole where the EGR pipe fits with my finger and it ran smoothly but the SES is still flashing. I may have my wires touching or possible I have a bad wire.

Thanks,
Osduck5

What manifold are you referring to? Exhaust or intake? I don't have any of mine routed under the intake manifold. The front plugs on both sides of the engine (cylinders 1 and two I believe), I have the wire run directly to them. The back two on each side, are ran towards the back of the engine, down, and then by the exhaust manifold to their respective plug.

I am referring to the exhaust manifolds. All the wires for the passenger side of the engine are routed across the plenium then down under the exhaust manifold from the front of the engine to the respective plugs. On the drivers side, they are run behind the coil packs down the back of engine and under the exhaust manifold to the respective plugs.

Don't think I've seen it like that. How I said, was all I have seen, and how I've done it.
