Someone make a writeout
Hey i wanna do a nice full body paint job + buff for camaro. shes got some dings and rust and paint wear in multiple areas would look amazing if i got a paint job. I only know basics and would love if someone with experience could make a full writeout or direct me to one
I would suggest a good "how to" video to begin with. But being your first time, still don't expect to get a perfect job. Nothing can replace experience and a lot of practice. If you make your car your first "practice" subject, it will look it. Learn how, and paint something else that doesn't matter (a friends beater or a ricer) until you get it.
If done small projects but never a full car. I also will have help from more experienced people i'm just looking for a good how to type thing yeah ill look it up on youtube or something see what i can find
I know this is old but I thought I would chime in. If you are new to body work or even if you have done it before you can still brush up on some things. Search for "paintucation" by kevin tetz. He is the guy on TRUCKS TV now but he put out these a long time ago. Long enough that I think I had them on VHS. Anyway if you watch all the videos you will have all you need to do your own body work.
http://www.autobody101.com/ checkout the forum, there tends to be alot of show quality paint posts but also has first timer posts as well.
Just be ready to realize that if you paint it yourself, you may never be completely satisfied because you know were every little imperfection was for them to still appear through on the new paint no matter how minor.
I was amazed on my recent paint job how much I worked the body over and over and over. That I could still point out a couple of very minor imperfections that the average person just passes over, but I know it is there.
Good Luck
