Slow starting
hey i have a 97 camaro 3800 and whenever i start it, it takes forever. It will jstu crank for a wial befor it starts. i have tryed pumping the gas and nothing seems to make it start faster any ideas? somthing worn out?
Don't pump the gas on FI cars, it just confuses the computer. I suspect the fuel pressure is not holding over night due to some problem suach as a leaky injector, bad check valve in fuel pump, or a bad regulator. Try this procedure & see if it helps.
1) Keep foot off gas pedal.
2) Turn key to ON, but do not try to start car (this primes the FI system).
3) Turn key OFF & repeat step 2 again.
4) The FI system should now be up to full pressure.
5) Keep foot off gas pedal & try to start car & see if it start any better.
