Default slow LT1

I just got a 1995 LT1 Z28, It has 167,000 miles on it, make a long story short, my buddy tells me that when i get on it, it should go everywhere but staraight, it should be so fast that it will scared the heck out of me, well my car doesnt, its fast, but not what he says, i have cleaned the k&n filter cause it was really dirty, i changed the pcv, i also changed the fuel filter, and i changed the oil, castrol gtx high mileage, with a fram oil filter, i sleeved the exhaust cause it had a hole in it, now the only thing left is a tune up, and if i do that, will it and can it make that much of a difference in the hole shot?

stop yelling [>:]

a stock lt1 is not "definitly faster" than 14. and if u ate ur buddies 77, then his car is mid 14s and he is lying. a stock lt1 has and will always be a low 14 second car sometimes breaking into the high 13s. those cars are scary fast until you get used to it. My ls1 is the same way, once I get used to the power then it seems slow as *****. then I drive my hyundai around for awhile and then the TA seems fast again .

if you want faster you will have to start modding. cleaning the filter and doing some routine maintanance will not give you noticable gains. it will return a poorly maintained car back into a 14 second car.

its not stock, it has a flowmaster exhaust, some kind of chip i was told, cold air intake, ( i was in a hurry on the last post, so i combined to subjects in one.) its still a bad *** LT1, one thing i noticed is that it stays in first gear a long time, i was thinking maybe the last person who had it might have it set as a second half car on the track, ( i found some racing slips in the glove) the hole shot sucks, maybe the engine is worn down, in that case i will rebuild during the winter. all i was trying to get at, was, should it on the start be anywhere but straight, to me its not stupid fast, i'd like it to be.

After I wrecked my mustang last fall, I went to a dealer that had a lt1 ws6. The guy, who looked like a cast member in deliverance, told me the car was a beast, had a special chip in it, and it turned around 400 hp. I told him he was full of **** and walked away from that lot laughing out loud. You have essentially a stock car with a different sound. Are they flowmaster weld-ins or catback? either way you are looking at 15ish hp increase and that is being very generous. Dont expect a mind numbing sense of vertigo or warp drive when you hit the throttle, the car is quick by most people standards, and can be made to be a beast, but you are sitting with a car that has only around 290 bhp give or take depending on its condition. You should be glad a 14 second car doesnt turn your knuckles white. for some people it does, for you, u get to make it faster

do you have any recommendations to make it a beast, i was thinking a super charger after the rebuild, i was going to rebuild the tranny as well, maybe a cam change, etc.

depends on how you rebuild, what components you use, engine specs. if you lower compression and forge it then yeah, go for FI. otherwise maybe a head and cam change and spray it, thats the route im going.

have you ever changed your plugs and wires on your lt1, did you have to do it from underneath and is it easy to reach?
