here is the info on the iroc:automatic tranny. Rebuilt motor with headers. ttops leak, broken speedometer, broken odometer missing interior light.

Info on the 96: 138,000 miles. 5speed. ttops with new weather stripping, chrome wheels, new head gasket, ground effects z28 exhaust tips.

or i could sell for 3100 and get something else.

i understand that the iroc will hold value longer but im only 18 and cant afford to put money in to fix the small things. So im deciding between keeping the iroc, trading for the 96, or selling for 3100 and buying a little honda or something.

I bought my Daughter a 98 Pontiac Sunfire for her College years. I paid 3K for with 91,000 miles on it. It now has 189,000 miles on it. So far all I have done beside routine maintenance is a TPS and a water pump. Car is still worth around a $1000. 2K for 100,000 miles, I can't complain.

I did upgrade to the Sunfire GT rims for her. The hub caps where shot and it was going from 14" to 16".

What did the sunfire get for mileage tho? My girl and friend have cavaliers which are same basic thing and they only pull mid twenties driving normal with autos...id keep the iroc for that mileage personally...now a stick cavy that my other buddy has gets 30-31 all day that's more tolerable for a gas miler but my auto civic would do 33 every tank.

id say my iroc gets between 12-15 mpg. would cold air intake make it a little better?

My Sunfire only average 29ish on the highway. It dends on where and how you drive and the setup you have. Manual always do better and many of the base model Sunfires/Cavs have no overdrive (mine is like that). A good friend of mine has a 5 speed and he can average 33-34 on the highway. The no Overdrive units are bullet proof and if you are doing a lot of around town driving they do better then the OD units.

Yeah the the gf's is like that too, no overdrive...and painfully slow...but cheap and you are right the 3spd autos are tough old birds. And realistically an auto cavy w/o overdrive is going to see the same mileage, on average, as a stick 3800 camaro with a light foot behind the wheel, but he could pick up a 150k cavy for like grand if he doesn't mind it not being pretty and keep the iroc in the garage for summers. Thats the route I would go, those 2.2litres are 200k motors at least, if you keep a fresh water pump in them.

I have a 1997 V6 auto with T tops for trade. All it needs is the nose painted, T top leaks fixed, hatchback pistons, dash pad, center console hinge fixed, rear brakes, and now since the check engine light came back on AGAIN - a new O2 sensor and.....nevermind.

I think my car is worth a negative number.
