Red face Should I go Higher in RPM's when shifting?

Driving a camaro manual is a lot different then any other manual I have driven...I really don't know when I should be shifting(RPM wise you know what I mean). I know it is all in the feel but I don't want to hurt my baby.!!! I guess it all depends if you are going up hill down hill or what but like going up a nice steep road I will keep in 2nd at 30mph and 3000 RPM. Can someone explain this to me like i am 12 year old.... I like to get the car up in going if I always shift in higher RPM will it mess the car up...They were designed to do that Rite????

you can shift anywhere between 2.5k and 6k. it wont really matter. going too high too often puts more wear on the engine, and shifting too low and bogging the motor down also causes wear. so dont worry about it too much. as long as when you shift you end up somewhere above 2k ur fine. when u need the extra power hold it out a little farther.
