Service engine light - cleaning out vacuum port
I have a '94 3.4L. The service engine light comes on after I hit about 60mph and then either coast or slow down. I have done some searching, and it seems that other people with this problem have been able to fix it by cleaning out a "dime sized hole" on the intake manifold. I have only had this car for a few days, so Im not very familiar with it. However, I was a Jeeper for a while, and am not new to wrenching. I was looking last night, but didnt pull the throttle body off...I didnt want to tear into it without more specific info. If anybody has suggestions or pics about what exactly I am looking for, I would really appreciate it. Thanks

RE: Service engine light - cleaning out vacuum port
I agree and plan on doing so...but if this is easy to clean it as its supposed to be, why not give it a shot. It is supposedly a common problem, as well as very easy to do. The car is 13 years old with 116k miles on it, it probably needs the egr passage cleaned even if that isnt the problem. I just cant find any pics or a detailed explanation other than "take off the throttle body and clean out the egr passage". Im kind of looking at it as preventative maintenance. The car is new to me, Im going to change the fluids, check the brakes, plugs and wires, etc.

The EGR is mounted on the right side exhaust manifold on top of an adapter pipe. I don't see where the throttle valve needs to be removed in order to get to the EGR.
